Decking project completed by Pristine Exteriors in West Auckland

Deck builders, West Auckland

New decks, deck extensions, pool surrounds and full replacements, built in kwila, treated pine or composite.

What is covered

Choosing between kwila, pine and composite

Kwila is the premium hardwood option. It looks the part, resists insects and weather, and lasts a long time. It costs more up front, needs oiling to hold its colour, and bleeds tannins while it weathers in. Treated pine is the affordable, versatile choice used on most Auckland homes, easy to stain or paint, but softer and reliant on regular maintenance. Composite sits in between: higher up front, close to nothing to maintain after that.

Built for the way the ground actually sits

Every deck is set on concrete footings with code compliant structural framing, H3.2 or H4 treated timber and trade grade corrosion resistant fixings. On sloping West Auckland sections that framing does most of the work, so it gets planned before anything visible goes down.

From $305 per m2. Indicative and excluding GST. The fixed price comes after an on site measure. See full pricing.

Common questions

Do I need council consent for a deck?

Generally not, if the deck floor sits under 1.5 metres high and there is no risk of falling more than 1 metre. Elevated decks and pool surrounds can need consent. We will tell you which side of the line your job falls on.

How long does a deck take to build?

Most residential decks take a few days to a few weeks depending on size, complexity and weather.

What does decking cost?

Ground level decks start from $305 per m2 installed for 90mm radiata pine, and $380 per m2 for 90mm kwila. Full rates are on the pricing page, and the fixed price comes after an on site measure.
